Belfast City Tour

Chauffeur Driven Sightseeing Belfast

Belfast city centre is compact and can be explored on foot.  The main shopping area is in front of the City Hall and includes two large malls: CastleCourt and Victoria Square (the latter has a rooftop glass dome with good views over the city).

The City Hall is an impressive building – and offers daily tours at set times. Its grounds include the Titanic Memorial Garden with a plinth listing the names of all who perished.

Sightseeing beyond the city centre area requires transport and Elect Chauffeurs offers tours of Belfast city in a private executive car with your own chauffeur-guide.

 Ulster Museum

Located beside Botanic Gardens, the Ulster Museum is Northern Ireland’s largest exhibition of archaeology, botany, zoology, geology and Irish art.

Popular displays include the mummified body of Takabuti, an Egyptian woman from Thebes, and treasures from the Girona, a ship of the Spanish Armada that sank off Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast.

Ulster Folk & Transport Museum

This extensive museum is located at Holywood, about 7 miles from the city centre. It offers two separate experiences:

The Folk Museum is a re-creation of rural life as it was in the early 1900s. The 170-acre park includes quaint country lanes passing farms, cottages, pastures and rural industries. The countryside exhibits are laid out around Ballycultra, which represents a typical Ulster town from the period.

Most of the buildings are authentic and were rebuilt at the museum brick-by-brick. Many are open to explore and there are regular demonstrations of local craft making and open-hearth cooking.

The Transport Museum tells the story of transportation in Ireland from early times to the modern day. It includes an impressive collection of steam locomotives and railway stock.

A popular exhibit is the DeLorean DMC-12 gull-wing sports car, which was manufactured in Belfast and made famous in the ‘Back to the Future’ films.

Also included is a Titanic exhibition, TITANICa, which tells the liner’s story and its association with Belfast.
